The Young iBanker Club is mentored by professionals with over 20 years experience in investment banking and asset management industry.
The goal of this young iBanker Club is to help club members to develope strong background knowledge and skill for their future careers in investment banking or asset management industry.
The club is divided into 2 groups with different focuses and missions:
The Corporate Finance & IPO Group
This group focuses on corporate finance such as corporate merger and acquisition (the M&A process) and set specific goal to acquire knowledge on how to bring a company IPO in U.S. stock
markets like NASDAQ and NYSE. The instructor will train members of this club to develpement hands-on experience/knowledge in M&A and IPO process by allowing club members to participate into
real IPO project. When the student has equipped relevant knowledge in M&A and IPO field, each student will be assigned with a role in a live M&A or IPO project. Students then will work with the
professional team like Lawyers, Accountants, and Security Under-Writer to go through a 12 months company IPO process.
In this group, instructor believes hands-on experience and street smart are the most important things to have. Instructor will organize field trips to visit U.S. top investment banks such as Morgan Stanley,
Goldman Sachs, and J.P. Morgan; students will be able to find out how the real world looks like in investment bank by observing the day-to-day activities of experts working in investment banks.
Objectives and member requirements:
- This groups' learning objective is designed for students from grade 9 or above.
- Students must have strong motivation to develope career in investment bank.
- Members must complete weekly writing assignments.
- Able to travel alone (12 or over) or with assistant from parents for a 5-7 days field trip to visit investment bank offices in U.S., Hong Kong, and China. Potentially participate in ring the opening or closing bell at NYSE or NASDAQ.
- Interview is required for both student candidates and parents.
The Asset Management Group
This group focuses on asset management or wealth management. Teach students how to manage personal and family assets by constructing investment portfolio that fits into the unique need
of each individual or family case.
Like the IPO group above, instructor believes hands-on experience and street smart are critical in managing assets. Instructor will organize field trips to exchange
investment ideas with investment managers in top investment banks such as Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, J.P. Morgan, and other Hedge fund companies.
Instructor will also help each member of the club to build a live investment portfolio contain stocks, bond, and cash investments. The goal of constructing a live portfolio
is to build a two years track record of investment transactions in different asset classes such as stocks, corporate bonds, government bonds, and money market funds. This portfolio
will potentially become a good reference for students' future intern opportunity in investment banks.
Objectives and member requirements:
- This groups' learning objective is designed for students from grade 6 or above.
- Students must have strong motivation to develope career in investment bank.
- Members must complete weekly writing assignments.
- Able to travel alone (12 or over) or with assistant from parents for a 5-7 days field trip to visit business partners' asset management firms in U.S., Hong Kong, and China.
- Interview is required for both student candidates and parents.
